Door did not open and shut properly, often had to kick it open (a major fine hazard that housekeeping somehow did not detect), bathroom door did not close fully, shower head made a high squealing noise throughout your shower, which tended to fluctuate from very hot to cold and back again. Wifi was spotty, often dropping in and out. Management was kind enough to refund two days parking fee but we will NEVER stay at this hotel again.

First, the room does not have a good sound proof on the wall. Any little noise someone come and knock at your door. The room is very large with wood floor, but the heat did not work very well or with a noise at least. The bathroom was not done properly. I use a napkin to check the floor, it was all dark. They said parking would be free, but I had to pay 77 Canadian bucks for 3 nights and there is no way to find a spot around there. They offer free coffee and service at the front desk looks ok. The carpet in the hallway was dirty too.

Bathroom needs love. Shower squeezes at you and toilet needs to be flushed multiple times.
2 night romance trip
Hotel Espresso Montreal Downtown, Montreal
Poor1.0 / 5
The hotel was not good at all and the room was terrible. See photos attached. When we arrived they didn't have our early check in request available which we were disappointed, but understood. We came back at 7pm to check in. When we got to our room there was a cup of half drank warm coffee on the desk. Warm coffee at 7pm. Why would that be? Check in is at 3pm so why would there have been someone drinking coffee in our room at around 7pm? It was unsettling. The bathroom ceiling was badly damaged with no signs of attempted repair. Water damage that occurs over time so should have been repaired long before our stay. Just gross. The air conditioning and fan also did not work. We had called in the middle of the night for repair and someone came up and got it on. However, it stopped working again. We had the best service everywhere we went, except for at the hotel. When we checked out I showed the front desk the pictures and explained the test. No apology was given except for to comp the parking, which at the very least, was appropriate on their part. I would have preferred a full refund but because I booked through hotels.com, didn't think they could do for us. I have been traveling for many years and have yet to post a negative review until now. This place was entirely unacceptable and was the only truly disappointing part of our trip.

convenient downtown hotel
Pros: location was within walking distance of restaurants, shopping, subway station. free wi-fi. small gym but well equipped. air conditioning worked great. Cons: empty lot next door where a lot of people would congregate. also a lot of people (not hotel guests) gathered in the main lobby of the hotel, so didn't feel quite safe. wi-fi service kept cutting in and out (could be an issue if you don't have international cell phone service or expensive international service). bed was extremely hard (but that's personal). key cards to room didn't always work, hotel staff said to keep key away from cell phones (i have a pocketbook, so I can't quite control their proximity. nor have I ever had that issue before). floor boards were coming up a bit, and the toilet started leaking one evening. Overall, could probably find somewhere nicer for the price.
