The Rubens At The Palace, London
Very Good8.0
Great location but a little dated and cramped
The good thing about the Rubens is the location. It is an easy and very short walk to Buckingham palace, Victoria Station and many restaurants/bars and pubs. Westminster Abbey and Trafalgar square are totally walk-able form here too. This is what I guess would be called a grand OLD hotel though. Everything is quite small and dated. The lifts are tight with 3 people and the King Deluxe rooms are consumed with the furniture therein. The bathroom is one sink and a shower door that only covers a third of the shower/tub so a lot of water ends up on the floor. The A/C is tired and on a warm day does not quite keep up with the humidity. Front desk service is exceptional and so are the doormen. I suppose my problem is that I am used to American hotels and this is London. So, I got over it and had a great time. Last thing is the food in the hotel is crazy expensive compared to other restaurants in the area but clearly they are looking to provide a superior dining experience for those who can and want to shell out the extra cash. We ate in the hotel once (Bbar) and it was really good but I didn't think it was THAT good. FYI The English Rose Cafe across the street is absolutely fantastic for breakfast and had a very nice afternoon tea for about 1/4th of the cost of Rubens.

Nice hotel but small space
The Reuben is a very nice hotel but the rooms are very small. There's no fridge or microwave in the rooms, the elevators are quite small that only 2 people could fit in it. Overall it's a nice hotel but not worth the value for the money as in space concerned

Excellence
The hotel is a grand old dame with service to match. It is located very close to Victoria Station for easy transportation. Restaurants abound in the area. We will return next year.
