Bad Experience
Overall it's was really disappointing, very old building, everything is old, the breakfast is really poor... Really I cannot mention anything positive... Even the internet is not available in the rooms and it's just available downstairs near the reception!!! I just want to ask what is the rate of this hotel? It's should be 1 star no more

Don’t eat in the pizzeria
Great location, unfortunately the hotel is a mix of updated and dated decor. The room was poorly lit and very stuffy. We are at the pizzeria which was very disappointing! Had the garlic prawns for starter I was so disappointed six Luke warm prawns on a bed of lettuce… These were changed for another portion then had to add chilly oil to spices the dish up, on receiving the waiter told me FOC. Pizza was ok On paying they tried to charge me for the starter portion….we discussed they removed the charge. The room was booked ans was looking forward to the stay…V disappointed.

8/10 Very Good

Reasonable night.
A very large room, very clean but dated, beds a little firm but not terrible. Breakfast was far from good especially for vegetarians, the coffee was awful.

room with "window"
i booked a room with a window as advertised. Only problem is window was at the top of the wall, so small it did give almost no light into the room, not mentioning looking outside as impossible to reach to it unless you are 3m tall, or opening it for a fresh air.

No Heartbreak at Heartwood Hotel
Britannia’s International Hotel could t be more conveniently located at the heart of Canary Wharf. Having never visited the area before I felt like an HG Wells character stepping out of my Victorian Time Machine into the future as I wondered at the high rises, lights and transport. But then I stepped back into my Time Machine and arrived back in the reception of the International Hotel in Victorian England. Built and opened in 1992, it is astounding that the interior decor was permitted by planners or even considered by the owners. Before the ink was dry on the designs, the interior was already 10-15 years out of date and sadly never ripped out and remodelled thinking visitors may want to go forward, rather than backwards, in time. The hotel reception staff and bar staff were courteous and efficient, everything worked…the lifts, the lights, the plugs, amenities and air con. It was all just comically dated. A stage set from Tales of the Unexpected or Upstairs Downstairs, but shabbier, sprung to mind. The deep brown woodwork is all scrapped, the wallpaper marked and pealing and I got the feeling that the armies of money-conscious Chineses visitors that filled the place would lap this up. Get past the faux par on the decor and for £109 for a double (you pay less not to have a window but Premier Inn Hub rooms do the same) it’s a bargain. Good Guinness and amazing to step out and wander round Canary Wharf at night.

2/10 Poor

Usual poor service
Just the usual terrible stay you expect at the Brittania to be honest . A 50 minute check-in queue . Untrained and apathetic staff and lack of any management presence. As long as you understand that is what you are going to get I guess it’s cheapish..
