Not much of a four star hotel
The hotel needs renivation. It is quite old and outdated.

A Pleasant if Warm and Noisy Stay in Budapest
The service at the Flanenco was excellent. The fact it has a spa, restaurant, bar with deck, and live music are also desirable. The breakfast buffet was well worth the investment. The hotel is across the street from a nice park with play facilities for children, and is close to multiple transit options with which you can go anywhere in the city. The early very warm spring was in some ways very nice but as our room faced east toward the park and the hotel had not engaged the central AC our room was quite warm all day and into the night. Opening the window did help but there are several noise sources (guests out side the bar, fire department a block away, locals reveling in the park, hotel parking right below our window, tour buses coming and going late and early) making keeping the window open for cooling needing to compete with keeping it closed for noise reduction. All in all, the convenience, service, and amenities will bring us back in the near future... although perhaps when it’s cold or we can have confidence the AC is running.

Rooms and bathrooms definitely need some renovation.

Good value in pleasant Budapest location
This is a nice enough hotel out of the touristy areas but not far from them by public transportation in Budapest. The rooms are fine but dated, the most annoying thing is the shower in which you have to hold the shower head in your hands, it doesn't adjust (two different rooms had the same arrangement). I enjoyed seeing the ash-tray next to the toilet, a relic of old times, even in non-smoking rooms. The AC system could use some improvement. The hotel is relatively inexpensive but you do pay extra for using the pool, the gym, and the garage. The staff are fine, courteous and efficient, and speak perfectly serviceable English (and often German). Bottom line: you get what you pay for but if you don't want/need anything fancy, this hotel will do just fine.

We enjoy this hotel when traveling to Budapest. I found during this stay the hotel no longer offers coffee in the lobby for guests. It may not be a big deal buts it one basic treat in the morning I enjoyed.
