Avoid the Spa
Overall the stay was excellent, but I would HIGHLY recommend AVOIDING the spa at all costs. My husband booked one service in the morning and that evening he was provided with a different service that cost twice as much. When we explained the error they said it was our fault and required us to pay the full fee. The Spa staff were incredibly rude and basically ganged up on us telling us we were wrong. They called the girl my husband had booked with that morning to confirm we were wrong and she spoke perfect English, although she spoke broken English when he booked. Not only did we pay more for the service, we didn't get the service we wanted, and had a very unpleasant experience. When I mentioned this to the front desk clerk at the hotel we were told that if we didn't pay it would come out of his pay, so he couldn't help us.

charming old hotel with poor service
Cons: service was disappointing and lacking for a full service hotel. The am breakfast staff was extremely slow in getting us coffee, with almost a 15 minute wait, when we were the only people eating there but there were two waiters simply standing there, not doing anything. We paid extra for a room with a balcony and a sea view and they initially brought us to a room without sea view or balcony. When I complained about that, they took our luggage and told us the rooms would not be ready until much later. When we got to the new room, there was a balcony but I could barely see any sea . If I stand on the balcony ledge and strain my neck, I might get a tiny glimpse of the sea. After you take a shower, the water would leak down the side and spread throughout the entire bathroom, running down the cornice , through areas of the bathroom that has probably never been adequately cleaned, downhill, eventually to the toilet. The half roll of toilet paper they provided us fell down into this grotesque water puddle and we were disappointed to find out that they didn't leave us any additional toilet paper. We went down to the front desk to request additional tissue and that was brought up in about 20 minutes Pros: There is certain charm to the old hotel and it's decorations. If they provide better service, it would probably be better ranked. The location of the hotel is great as well. If they bother to trim the hedges outside, there can be a better view when looking out

Can Not Recommend This Hotel
I was quite ill during the stay, but my wife and friend took an arranged tour via a guide provided by the hotel. It went fine. However, due to my illness, we took the hotel up on them coordinating a car and driver to Marrakech in lieu of our original plan to take the train the next day. The hotel charged us a whopping $350 +/- only to find out on our journey that they gave the driver only $150 of that. This is the definition of a rip off - to us and to the driver.

Grand old hotel
Really nice old hotel close to the medina and Grand Socco, but in the new city. It has a grand, classic feel to it, and a modern european style bathroom with amenities. My husband tried the hammam at the spa and really enjoyed it. The bar and restaurants also have European prices- meaning, well over-priced by Moroccan standards. But we loved our stay at this hotel, with a beautiful view of the port and the sea.
