The Peabody Memphis, Memphis
Very Good8.0
The room was acceptable but the bathroom really not. I figured there were about 4 sq feet of move around room and just barely enough sink space for cosmetics and meds.I was on the 11th floor and was bothered by street noise. If I came to Memphis again I would have my cocktails in the very lovely lobby and stay somewhere else. I'm glad there weren't two of me.

Cool place, but not a do-over.
The atmosphere and ambiance were impressive. The Peabody is located near Beale Street which was our primary destination. We were disappointed with the mattress and roughness of the towels and bedding. It was a nice visit, but do not anticipate returning to this hotel on our next Memphis trip.

Love the SOUTH!!!!
Amazing city! In the heart of Memphis. Love just sitting in the "living room" and people watching!!!! The rooms have lots of character however a bit musky smelling. I guess that comes with age.

Perfect place to stay.
It was a terrific hotel, perfectly located, conserige, Alex, went out of her way to arrange all the tours we wanted and added some great restaurants and places of her own. We went to a wedding in Nashville and decided as long as we were in Tennessee we'd see Memphis. Liked it even better than Nashville. Go! Visit! It was wonderful

Good6.0
History should not trump quality
I get that this is a historic hotel and they try to preserve much of the historic "charm" of grand hotels from yesteryear...but...there's a fine line between historic and drab. Service is great. Staff is very friendly and attentive. The main lobby area is spectacular and the famous duck march is always entertaining. However, once you move up from the lobby, things take a substantial turn for the worst. There is no way this property should be 4.5 stars. Three tops. Some Hilton Garden Inns have impressive lobbies as well. The building is old and the interior has not been renovated in decades. The hallways smell like the 70s and 80s and look the same with dim fluorescent lighting, dirty carpeting and suspension ceilings. The rooms are not much better. Small, musty and not very comfortable. The plaster crown molding in my room had significant water damage and was chipping and peeling in several places. The bathroom was very tired. Just like most of the furniture. Overall, best advice I have is to pass by this hotel and enjoy the history and ducks in the lobby and then go sleep somewhere else.
