Relaxing time
Good stay. Great employees. Easily walkable. Less than 10 minutes to the Opera House. Only complaint was that Fitness Center was a bit crowded in the morning. Not all machines accessible.

Wonderful Staff; False Advertising re Harbor View
Great location, and service is superb - every single member of the staff (from waitress at breakfast to front desk staff) are wonderfully welcoming. I would have left this hotel a rating of 4 or 5 except that there is some degree of false advertising. I booked this hotel for the possibility of looking down at the Opera House and taking some photos. Indeed, on their website (and the hotels.com website) there are great photos of a restaurant/bar space overlooking the harbor and opera house. I assumed that while my room may not have a view of the harbor/opera house (these rooms are understandably very expensive), there would be a common area/restaurant/bar (ie, the "terrace/patio" mentioned in the photo) where a paying guest - regardless of type of room paid for - would be able to have this view. I was told after checking in that these photos are taken from the Intercontinental Club, and I would have to pay extra for this. This was not mentioned in their website or on the Hotels.com website. I don't think I'm the only person booking this hotel for the potential view of the Harbor. So the fact that they publish photos of that view (in a space clearly not a guest room) would lead anyone reasonable person to assume that they would be able to enjoy that view at some point during their stay. For this false advertising, I am giving them two stars.

Overall very nice room, however it had an odd odor, as if it was once a smoking room that had been cleaned 90%

Our Stay May 1st 2018 at Intercontinental Sydney
The hotel was amazing. Location was great. Just waking distance to Sydney Harbor Bridge, Opera House, Botanical Garden and museums around. The room was great. We paid extra for a "Harbor Bridge view" room 6 months ahead and they reserved it for us. Large rooms with comfy beds. Cons are: 1) they would charge you $15.00 for using the bottle opener (like we buy it) to open your beer/drink bottles, which was ridiculous. 2) Inside the hotel, restaurants were ridiculously expensive - as a result we never even bothered to eat in, there are plenty of affordable eating places outside, near harbor and around. 3) Absolutely no snacks/ treats provided included in the room charge. Every snack kept in the room was at a charge and they were expensive. 4) A fancy coffee machine is in the room, but no instructions. We tried to be smart and added a coffee pod - didn't make coffee. Thankfully, we had our own coffee mixes which was a great help. 5) Room charges will not even include a free water bottle. 6) Bath tub was slippery - we had to always hold the hand-rail to get in and out of the tub when using the shower. Paid a lot of money, but they should have been generous to add a bit more basic things to the room for guests comfort without always trying to make money from every aspect they could. Overall located in a nice place. Lobbies and public areas looks nice and well-kept The bath tub was slippery
