I'm no stranger to cheap hotels on the road. This one was awful.
Several emails I received up to the day said check in was at 1pm. We arrived after 2pm to see most of the rooms still being cleaned. The office was locked and a paper was taped to the door with a phone number. At this point another group of folks had arrived to wait for their room as well. Needing to leave to an event soon, we called the number and the person who answered let us know that check in wouldn't be until 3pm. All of us had emails stating check in was at 1pm.
Once she arrived she never asked for ID or confirmation number to check in, but gave us our key and sent us over. The door was open when we walked in. There were no towels, but the shower was absolutely disgusting so we wouldn't have used it anyway. There has a half of a roll of toilet paper and one empty roll. There were holes in the walls, missing paint, and a funky smell outside of typical "old hotel" stank. We didn't plan to use the pool, but couldn't have anyway since it was filled with black swampy gunk.
When we got back that night the parking lot was overfilled, with some cars double parked. We ended up parking several blocks away from the hotel. We could clearly hear our neighbors snoring next door. The bed was incredibly loud and unstable. We're not very big people but we're a little afraid it would collapse if we moved too much. The pillows were so thin we had to fold them in half. We could've slept in the car and saved the money.
