Lovely Mecenate Place Hotel
Just as beautiful as 8 years ago, The Mecenate Palace Hotel was a wonderful place to stay while visiting Rome again. Great location to the metro and right across the street from the wonderful Basilica Santa Maria Maggiore! The hotel has a breakfast with many choise's on the 5th floor rooftop with a fantastic view of the basilica and beyond. Our room Executive #3 was very roomy and had everything we needed for our 4 day stay. The shower leaked on the floor because of the jet tub glass but who uses a tub anyway.

Great location, mediocre hotel.
We book a larger more expensive room. In order to get to the room you had to go out of the hotel and into another building next door. It was a fairly large room. The mattresses were comfortable, but the furniture was tired looking. The booking pictured showed a large room with a small settee and a desk. We had a desk and one tired desk chair. No extra room for a settee. The bathroom had been updated but the shower leaked. I told the manager on duty that I did not feel we got what we paid for and he assured me that I was mistaken. If the pictures of the other rooms on the website are any indication, the I have to believe I was lied to. Perhaps all of the pictures where less than realistic. Breakfast was a lovely buffet. We went up to the roof restaurant for drinks. It was a cool night and a guest asked to sit inside. They were told "no" because it was "fresher" outside. When we checked out the manager was unshaven and appeared to either be sleepy or to have been drinking. He demanded that we pay for our tour in cash. As we were leaving he remembered the contracted ride from the airport and called us back to pay for that in cash. When we told him that the shower leaked he said we did not know how to use. The location was terrific, but I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.

Very Good8.0
Military style service with an amazing location
Amazing property! Clean, beautiful, majestic views from windows and terrace. Wish the staff would smile. If you like the yes, sir/ ma’am military style service this is your place. Also, wish they wouldn’t have hung up on me when I called to ask about a forgotten item. Good thing we called again and insisted to have them double check. It magically appeared and all is well.

A Very Good Stay
I was in a small tour with 5 rooms and 8 people. All of the participants were very pleased with their rooms and said they would stay there again and recommend it. The breakfast was exceptionally good with a nice variety of staples and a few items that changed every day; the views from the breakfast room/restaurant and terrace are wonderful. The service in all regards was good. A metro stop at the end of the block was convenient, as was the location of Termini train station a couple blocks away. It is also located in a restaurant area with eateries ranging from mom and pop trattorias to inexpensive and authentic Asian fast food. Convenience stores, a department store, and grocery stores are steps away. Those who had executive rooms took advantage of their jacuzzis at the end of the touring for the day.
