The Perfect Hotel
The Bauer is amazing, a perfect 5 Star hotel. The location is actually 2 hotels in one building. The half away from the grand canal is the more contemporary hotel and the Palazzo where we stayed faces the grand canal and is the more traditional hotel. Our room was small, think NYC hotels, but gorgeous and very well appointed. Bed was crazy comfortable with the most luxurious linens and towels we had ever encountered. Our window had a stunning view of the city and the hotel is about a 5 minute walk to St Marks but the room (on the small 8th floor) was dead quiet. The breakfast buffet was amazing, full waitstaff for coffee and tea and then the buffet for food. The dining room sits right on the grand canal and you can sit outside but it was mostly to cool for that. The bar that is next to the dining room is open all the time with limited food service and we had an excellent small meal there before a concert when we were rushed for time. One day we came back to the hotel mid-afternoon and had a drink sitting in the sun right on the grand canal watching the gondolas go by, quite a magical Venice experience! We used the concierge service several times, thanks Roberto, and found it very helpful, all the staff were attentive and pleasant. There was a cold bottle of sparkling wine when we arrived, cookies another night, I could go on and on...... but you get the idea!

Air conditioning system badly needs cleaning. Mold and dust seriously affected my asthma.

The best hotel in Venice
We come to Venice every other year for the Art Biennale and usually try different hotels. From now on we will always stay at the Bauer. We had 2 junior suites that were adjacent to each other. The rooms were perfectly dark at night and silent. We have never stayed in a hotel room this quite which really allowed for deep sleep to occur. The staff was amazing, especially Roberta in the breakfast room. The view was lovely and the food and bountiful selection made us all very happy. Naturally, the locations is great. All the stores are right outside the entrance including Prada, etc. plus it's a stone's throw to San Marco Square. The rooms are huge with large bathrooms and walk in closets so if you compare prices, this will be the best deal in this category. Also they have a number of people at the reception to greet you with a smile and NO wait to check in our out. And lastly, the concierge team was extremely helpful with their recommendations. They arranged our first class train tickets and water taxis without any extra fees. We highly suggest you try staying here!

Great stay. Lovely setting
Lovely setting especially breakfast on the patio. Great location. Rooms were immaculate. But be forewarned. You need a 3 prong plug. The hotel will provide you one if you need it
