JUST DREADFUL
BEWARE!! On arriving at the hotel we were totally dismayed! You enter the hotel via the entrance to the 'gentlemans' club! The place smelt awful, it was stale and EXTREMELY dated, the receptionist hardly spoke. As we walked upto our room (no elevators) there was an intense smell of bleach, God only knows what they were clearing up or trying to disguise, as nowhere else smelt remotely fresh. Our room was dark, dingy, and smelly. I tried to slide open the window but the frames wouldn't stay in the runners. The bathroom fittings looked about 60 years old and the sink was all cracked. We left and found somewhere much nicer to stay (Holiday Inn), for the same price, and with breakfast included! We should have read more reviews before we booked but just looked at the price (others reported mice, bed bugs, and having their bank details used fraudulently) Fortunately we paid the key deposit in cash.

It was like the fairy-tale from hell.
Ever wonder what it would me like to wake up with a mouse staring at you? Well wonder no more, just stay at the Fillmore and you can be Cindrella, just replace the prince charming with strippers, the ball with drunks and junkies. The nicest thing was the mice.

It was a slice.
First, the good. Terrific staff. All very friendly and helpful. Next, clean. Well kept older building, clean (if worn) linen and shower/bathroom. Last price. Crazy expensive in TO these days. A single room in another hotel would have been more than my train fare, concert ticket and meals combined. The bad. Location. Dicey part of the city still, and rowdy street noise woke me more than once. Panhandlers and crazies are everywhere. Not the hotels issue but will prevent me from staying again. As a matter of fact, I think I’m done with the Big Smoke, at least until it returns to somewhat more normal hotel pricing. Montreal a better deal.
