Charming with character.
Wow, built in 1755! The sloping floors in the room represent that, but I found it charming. It did get warm in the room so we slept with the window open. The road noise could be an issue with some. Friendly staff, and breakfast was good. The view over the Loch was great.

Nice inn in a pretty setting
Nice inn in a nice location. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. No air conditioning and no lift to upper floors so if it's hot or your bags are heavy it could be a little uncomfortable.

Historic inn with great views
The Inveraray Inn is on Front Street, facing the lake. They serve a gourmet fixed price meal in the dining room, but we opted for a less expensive, but still very good, meal in the bar. Ask for a room facing the lake. The view is great. My only disappointment was that no-one offered to carry our bags upstairs. As is quite common in Britain, there was no lift/elevator. Often, instead, a staff member is available at check-in to carry the bags, but that did not happen here, despite the fact that my travel companion is in her eighties, with limited mobility. The hotel changed hands a couple of years ago, reverted to its original name, and is undergoing major renovations. Not sure if they plan to add insulation between floors (or if they can, as it is such an old building.) But footsteps from the floor above me were loud. Overall, though, I would stay there again.

Great View!
Had a large room overlooking Loch Fyne. Nice view even in the rain! Room was recently renovated and was very clean. On second floor (or third for Americans). No lift. Could hear some noise through the walls, but it's an old inn! Service from front desk and in bar/lounge was excellent. Breakfast service needs some work. Location can't be beat!!! Would definitely stay again.

Expensive and run down
Hotel is very old with multiple floors and no elevator. Room was a good size, but needs to be updated and ours was on a 15 degree slope. The carpet is worn out and looked dirty inside the room, while it was peeling in the hallway. Bathroom has some mold underneath the faucets. The towel rack is extremely hot and can burn you like a curling iron if you accidentally brush against it. Beds were not comfortable. Breakfast was ok with the traditional English items, fruit, and some other continental breakfast food. Inveraray is a very small and walkable area that you can cover in 8 minutes from 1 end to the other. Beautiful drive there that isn't steep. This may be better as a day trip or short stay.
