Great little hotel, but room for improvement...
Hotel appears to have issues with its hot water supply that has been ongoing for some time. We had no hot water one morning but other guests were complaining it had been off for several days. During this period there was a gent on the desk that did not normally work at the hotel, and this was very apparent in the assistance he was able to provide (but a nice gent though). The room (5) next to the kitchen is pretty loud, but not too bad.

Beautiful decor but no air con
I fell in love with the decor as soon as I walked into the bar/ restaurant area. The hotel had a lovely boutique feel and had some great spaces such as the garden to relax in. Unfortunately it didn't have a lift - I was on the third floor - nor did it have air con which made the room quite uncomfortable which was a shame because I would liked to have given this hotel a higher rating. They had added some excellent touched such as complimentary fruit in the rooms and, most importantly, proper coffee and a cafetiere which in my view makes up for having to walk up three flights of stairs!

A mixed experience
We stayed two nights with a four-day interval in between. The hotel is certainly very nice but there are aspects of the way it is managed which need to be thought about. This is not by any means a cheap hotel so you may wonder why you only get three hours' free WiFi and then have to pay: and why are you charged £7 a night to use a parking space which is right outside the front door of the hotel? On the first evening we were there, we had a very enjoyable dinner in the restaurant but on the second night (a Tuesday) the restaurant was closed, as was the very nice garden, because there was "a function" going on. We were offered room service but this is not an acceptable alternative. The management needs to think about this policy: maybe the hotel is just too small to be offering functions. Of course they need to make money but should they be doing this at the expense of the hotel guests?

Disappointing experience
The staff were great but the room was grim. It was cramped & close to a noisy door. Under the bed was dirty and the bedding was dreadful. The staff did move us to a bigger room, but this was not particularly a better room, and again very weird bedding made of Velor. Parking is sparse only room for 5 cars.

Great accommodation and locale
Nice accommodation. Good all-round. All accommodation that weekend were over-priced, but this was not as bad and thus better value.
