A reasonnable choice
It was a pretty good hotel. I appreciated the fruits and biscuits every day. The place was clean, comfortable, and the staff was friendly and helpful. It is close to the university. Drawbacks include a bar next to the hotel which can be noisy in the late evening and subpar lighting in the bathroom. So definitely a reasonnable place and it was reasonably priced. I would go back if I go back to bristol.

Lovely little private hotel. Staff cheerful and helpful. We dined and had breakfast in the restaurant and both were good. The room was small but clean and comfortable. Could have done with two armchairs rather than one and a stool but the room was small as I said. I get the feeling that it used to be part of a larger room. My only quibble was the shower. The water was tepid at best even though it was at the highest possible setting and I left it running for several minutes. Secure parking is available at £8 per night. Street parking is available but there are meters for daytime use however you get 30mns free while you check in.

On arrival room not cleaned from previous occupant another room found but had to step down into bathroom, difficult after knee op 1 month ago some staff knowledgable others didn't recognise us after 3 day stay. Linen and towels looked grubby, although room cleaned well each day not aware of car park charges or the distance to the car park. Although this site says not pet friendly it was a good job it was or we would have gone elswhere as we could not have left our dog in the car overnight so far from where we were. Says it is a green hotel wanting to cut down on water usage but took 7 mins for cold whb to run cold as pipes under floor appeared to be next to hot ones. Room over kitchen so very hot, woken on 1st morning by refuse collection at 04.45 and subsequent mornings at 06.00 by either hotel or refuse collection staff or both. Restaurant although franchised very expensive for drinks and menu offered only 2 items which could be guarenteed garlic free because of an allergy. The fire doors were poorly fitted and our bedroom door had large gaps all round and was so heavy the door closer was pulling the frame head apart, no suitable handicapped access. No TV during stay as broken and promises of fixing it were not kept.. All in all not a good stay and not to be reccomended, even after a slight price reduction of car parling fees

Superb value for money and fantastic service
I have just spent one night at the Clifton Hotel and wish I had been staying for longer. Having read the very mixed reviews on here I am not quite sure what some people expect for their money. This is a two star hotel, the room rates are exceptionally low and the standard of customer service at the hotel very high indeed, in fact all of the staff at reception were exceptional. I spend 2/3 nights in hotels each week for work and my company pay substantially more for each night than I paid here for my stay last night. My room was quite small but it was spotlessly clean and very comfortable indeed. The shower was great and the little touches such as filter coffee, fruit and a DAB radio in the room totally unexpected and things you rarely find unless you are paying substantially more money. In summary I cannot recommend the Clifton Hotel highly enough and will absolutely be going back.
