The service I experienced at the Proper was exceptional across the board. Every employee was friendly & helpful constantly surpassing my expectations. The hotel design & vibe are cool & make the experience special & enjoyable. There is a great energy in the hotel. Loved both restaurants. Additionally, I was pleasantly surprised by the spacious, bright well appointed gym. Room amenities were top notch - Aesop products & luxe sheets. Couldn’t have been happier with overall experience!

Loved the architecture and decor of the hotel. Built so nicely. Staffs can do better. Was disappointing to see staffs standing around chitchatting many times. Unpleasent while you see customers waiting for service. Some staffs are very friendly but some are not at all. Not consistent.

Location of hotel was problematic. Close to firehouse and lots of sirens at night and close to 7-11 with large, vocal "locals" (2 of the 4 nights we were there, there was yelling/screaming the entire night). Our room was very small in spite of booking what was called a premier room. Fitness center too small for size of hotel....equipment was fine). Liked the rooftop pool/bar/food. Downstairs F/B was not a great experience. Think there are better choices for a hotel in Santa Monica at their price point.

Ok, the property is gorgeous & the food is amazing…much better than expected (& I expected it to be quite good); right down to the coffee in the lobby. The staff are incredible, all of them - polite, professional, thorough & they all seemed to be enjoying themselves. For the money, the room was nothing special…sure the bath products were great and the bed was very comfortable, but the tv never did show I was the registered guest; room service didn’t show-up correctly; the electronic curtains & lights worked only sporadically…lack of polish on the little things. Fancy tech is great, but it needs to WORK before it works in some unusual implementation. In the end, it’s hard to rationalize the cost.
