Mason & Rook Hotel, Washington

Room smelled from cigarettes and Lysol. The halls also smelled bad.

I kept having to go look for the valet. The water pressure coming from the faucet in the bathroom was really low. Carpet was dirty and weathered.

What a gem! Really enjoyed the property. Cool neighborhood location. Staff very friendly and responsive. Just a cool, relaxed vibe. My only complaint was I like a dark room at night and the privacy shade over the window only went down 3/4 of the way. When I pulled the chain, it broke. Staff responded and fixed same day. When I went to pull the shade all the way down again, didn’t budge. I just left it with a 3/4 shade for the remainder of the stay.

The location is convenient. The condition of our room was just ok. Our bathroom door was jammed and did not close properly. The toilet flush gave up while using it during the night and the very noisy water tank kept drawing water and could only be stopped by turning off the water supply. Since it was raining we asked to borrow a hotel umbrella but they did not have any. All in all we would have expected better of a hotel in this price range.

The hotel was clean and nicely furnished and staff were pleasant. The blackout shades were excellent! In the bathroom, the plug in the sink was not moveable (bad for contact lens wearers) and the sink faucet had too much pressure. Overall a nice stay.
