Too small to sleep
If your expecting comfort, I hope you like to cuddle. The beds are soooooo small, it's hard to fit 2 adults in the typical bed. Fitting 4 in a room is not reality, I even tried to upgrade, and the"king" is not an actual king and the additional sleeper has a small, maybe even a cot size bed. This did not work for our family at all. As a family, we've even been more comfortable in Japan, which has the smallest of quarters. I definately will not book this hotel for our family in the future. Otherwise, it was clean and located in the perfect location.

Great stay
We had a wonderful stay at the JW. Beautifully located to the DC Mall. We were able to access sites and restaurants. Service in the hotel was excellent.

Overall a disappointing and forgettable experience
Let's start with the good - the hotel is in an excellent location. Done with the good. I understand that maintenance construction may be necessary, however a hotel distinguishes itself in how it mitigates the associated inconvenience to its guests. Epic failure here: * There was no drive up to load/unload the car and you are stuck in a traffic congestion with cars trying to park for the National Theater. * The lobby was makeshift and chaotic; furniture did not have construction dust wiped and Union Station felt more festive on the holidays. * We had to chase bar staff in the 1331, the drinks were uninspired, and the garnish/rosemary on one of the drinks was moldy. * Smoke detector battery started beeping in the evening; took housekeeping 45+ minutes to resolve. * Had "Privacy Please" sign put out when we left for the town; room service removed the sign anyway and entered the room. * Adjoining maintenance/staff room started hammering, clanging pipes, dropping/moving furniture at 7 AM. * Big wad of hair stuck to the shower wall. * And if you find old information on the web about their pool - they closed their pool.
