This is the best 5star hotel in SF, we've stayed at them all... They are personal and truly do a perfect job.

Wonderful Hotel!
The minute you step into this beautiful property, you feel like you've stepped back into a past era... An era of glamour, elegance and gracious service. We travel a lot and stay in many nice properties, but we have never stayed somewhere with a bed more comfortable than ours at home. The bed in our room at the Mark Hopkins was the exception! The view from our room was spectacular and it is so nice to be able to open the windows for fresh air. Can't wait to return!

Complete disregard for hotel guests privacy.
everything was great except they did a "wellness check" because we had our Do not Disturb sign on for less than 24 hours. A staff person without a nametag came into my room when I was not there( I actually arrived while he was there, that is the only way I knew this was happening). So, I walk into my room and there is a strange person in it, I don't know if he a rogue staff person rifling through my things or what. I was very disturbed. The purpose of the Do Not Disturb is to keep people out of my room, not for you to decide I might be in trouble because you couldn't check if my room was clean for 24 hours. I like my privacy and none of my things were put away. I'm sorry but I do not trust anyone with my things and I find this policy ridiculous, unnecessary and completely rude! You had my cellphone number, call me and ask if I am ok, Don't barge into my room unannounced, just because I don't answer the door of my hotel room in the middle of the day, Of course I am not likely there, I am out site seeing on vacation. What other motive do you have? Do you do this routinely? Is this really a wellness check? This left us feeling violated and very confused. This will definitely affect me staying here again. Not ok.
