Check your sheets!
The hotel was close to the train which was convenient but the rest of the stay was questionable. When I arrived in the afternoon and my room was not ready for check in. We showed up at the designated time but it was not ready. We came back around 8 after exploring and was checked in. When I entered the room something seemed off. There was a wheel from someone’s luggage on the floor, a hand towel out in the bathroom, dirty bathroom mat and looked like someone sat on the bed. I called down and spoke to no one who can give me an answer so I went downstairs. Mind you this is now 36 hours of traveling without a shower and all I wanted to do was sleep. I spoke to three people before I was told by the manager that my room wasn’t cleaned from the prior person and the bed was only made no sheets were changed. How disgusting! I received a new room but I still was grossed out by what happened. What if I slept in someone else’s sheets? The front desk was barely accommodating and only offered me one morning of free breakfast for the mishap. I was staying 5 days so they didn’t go above and beyond for me. The room was decent for the price but I had to go to the front desk multiple times because my key card did not work after being in my purse near my Oyster card. Also there were never enough people at the the front desk so this was time consuming having to get new keys. Wouldn’t stay here again.

Poor 2.0
MOST AWFUL AND DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE
1) They required a fee for checking in before 2.00 p.m even though they had a room ready. New policy, apparently. 2) The entry door to the room did not open easily : possibly new carpet was installed and door was not adjusted to accommodate the thickness. 3) No shampoo in bathroom on 1st day; no conditioner on 2nd day 4) Hotel appliances: iron /hairdryer could not be plugged into any of the outlets: mismatch between appliance plugs and outlets. 5) Hairdryer could not be plugged anywhere near a mirror. 6) Concierge promised to call back with some information I requested, but did not; I had to call back after 1/2 hour and ultimately had to go to the Concierge desk in the lobby physically to get the information. 7) I left a detailed note for the General Manager with above complaints when I checked out: No response yet. 8) I ALWAYS stay at this facility when I pass through London: the facility /management has clearly deteriorated to below 3 star rating in the last 6 months. MOST DISAPPOINTING and not worth the money I spent for this recent visit.

The Gloucester Hotel is Excellent!
The hotel was excellent. We stayed in the "Club" and the room was really nice. This is an excellent business hotel. It was also really great for our most recent pleasure trip. The location in South Kensington is very convenient to the Gloucester Road Tube station on the Picadilly Line. The staff was very helpful, and the full English Breakfast was excellent. The photos on the Hotels.com website do not reflect how nice the hotel really is. See an updated exterior photo attached.

Our first room had torn curtains and smelled like an ashtray. I alerted the front desk and they very nicely gave us another room which had curtains with no rips and smelled only alittle like cigarettes. We wanted a chain hotel for the air conditioning. The air conditioning at the highest setting was still barely working. It wasn't our room - it was the whole hotel kept the AC low. The bathroom was nice and clean. Our stay was Aug 27-30, 2019. The fun part is late at night we saw a pair of red foxes running in the street - no local resident seemed surprised.- upon googling this we found that London has many foxes!

Stay Away!!!
The worst hotel I've ever stayed at. The room was blazing hot and the air conditioning blew hot air. The bathroom floor was dirty. The curtains had burn holes, so you know people were smoking in the room. The rug had many stains. When we complained and asked for another room we were given a fan that blew over ice. Finally, after complaining to Hotels.com, the manager gave us another room, 12 hours after we checked in. The new room was acceptable. The next problem was the lack of privacy. We hung the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door but it was ignored and house keeping came in anyway. The manager tried to smooth things over by giving us some fruit and water, which was placed in out room even though the "Do Not Disturb" sign was clearly on the door. My wife felt violated and I was enraged. Why could they not give us an acceptable room straight away? Can the staff not read the "Do Not Disturb" signs? This is totally unacceptable behavior from a supposed four star hotel. Oh yeah, the lobby smelled too. And did I mention the staff was unprofessional? Just the worst hotel experience we have ever had. Please be warned about this "hostel", because that's what if felt like, not even a two star hotel.
