Ladies weekend trip
Stayed here for a girls weekend with my sister and mother. I picked it for location and the fact that it is an historic landmark. The outside, lobby and common areas are very nice and inviting. We were given rooms on the 3rd floor... though I did request a "higher floor" when I booked through I find that requests made when booking through are often not received or ignored so I wasn't surprised. I was surprised by the condition of the room though... it was pretty but very dated (it's time for another renovation). We had a "view" of the roof and wall of part of the hotel from our one tiny window... ugh! The bathroom was beyond small but we had two closets... very odd! I shared a room with my mom and the size of the bathroom was a real issue. Also, there is NO way the beds are queens in the two queen rooms... they are full sized beds so keep that in mind. We did not spend much time in the room so it was adequate but if you are looking for a luxury hotel room or lots of amenities, this isn't the place. The best thing about the hotel is the location. Could not have asked for better..central to everything and the restaurants on King near the hotel are awesome.

Bad customer service
When I booked the room several months ago on, I had the option to request the type of room I wanted and I asked for a room with two beds for a weekend to celebrate a friend. There were several weddings going on, so I did not get what I requested and got a sleeper sofa instead of a second bed. I was not happy. called to see what the problem and I was told it was the hotels choice and I was welcome to find another place. I tried, but there was no other place to go. After spending two horrible nights on the sleeper sofa, I found another place to go and told them I was miserable and planned to check out early the next day. I was told fine. When I went to check out, I was told that they were sorry for my experience, but would still charge me for the night, even though they had previously told me otherwise. Even though they told me they had more inventory and finally changed me to another room, I have never had such poor customer service at a hotel before and felt they the hotel only cared about money, but not my experience.

Older hotel, updated and charming!
From the moment we checked in, it was a delightful experience. We have been vacationing in the Charleston area for over 20 years, and I remember this area as being a bit "sketchy". Not so any more! Great restaurants within a few blocks and a Farmers' tpe market across the street in Marion Square.

Smallest bathroom ever
we didn't get the room with the bed type that we reserved through The hotel said that since we ordered through third party ( the bed type is just a request and not guaranteed. Also the hotel doesn't show pictures of the bathrooms for a reason. They were the smallest I have ever seen
