Exceptional 10.0
Amazing service, close to Waseda University
Excellent service. Very close to Waseda University which was a big advantage when moving my son out of his dorm. Photos of the park at sunset from my hotel room should be in a travel magazine. Hotel breakfast, while not included, was well worth the extra fee.

Poor 2.0
My boyfriend visited Japan 20 years ago and had fond memories of staying at a RIHGA hotel so for our last night in Tokyo, we moved from the Ritz to the RIHGA. It was a 10-15min walk with luggage from the closest train station. We later learned that the hotel offered a shuttle. We arrived around noon and knew that it was going to be too early to check in so we were going to leave our bags with the bell desk. Compared to the Ritz, that staff did not know as much English and were not very friendly. We were told that because we booked on hotels.com, we could not check-in until 6pm. I reviewed my email confirmation which clearly stated that check-in was at 3pm. I showed them this, but they did not seem to care. I was extremely peeved as I have never had a check-in time beyond 4pm at a hotel regardless of how I booked the room and how much I paid. The room itself was very dated. It was perfectly fine and met our needs, but the décor and furniture was reminiscent of a hotel room from the early 90s. All in all, I would not stay here again due to it's distance from the train station, poor service, dated rooms and lack of convenient access to nightlife, restaurants, etc.
