About Hôtel Elysées-Opéra, Paris

Haussmannian hotel between Montmartre and Opéra

In Quartier de l'Europe

Hotel Elysees Opera is north of Gare St-Lazare Station, between the vast Boulevard Haussmann departments stores downhill and Montmartre and Batignolles uphill. Rome, Liège, and Place de Clichy Metro Stations are 4 minutes on foot, but you can easily walk to sights such as Opéra.

A Montmartre stroll

In 15 minutes' walk you can reach villagey Montmartre, with its stairways, old windmills, and artists' studios, and admire the view from the steps of Sacré-Coeur. A 5-minute walk takes you to less-known Batignolles, great for a meal and its Saturday morning organic food market.

Bar and breakfast buffet

The hotel offers the charm of a classic Haussmannian 19th-century stone-fronted building, and reception staff are available 24 hours. You can have an evening aperitif in the salon's small bar, and the breakfast buffet is served in a cellar adorned with a Chinoiserie-themed mural.

Tall windows, free WiFi

The 39 smoke-free, air-conditioned guestrooms are simple but comfortable, with the benefits of free WiFi, flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, and tall windows. The top floor has mansarded roofs, and some 3rd- and 6th-floor rooms have balconies.

unexpected gem
The staff went out of the way to make our trip pleasant and enjoyable. The location was great, within walking distance of sightseeing, shopping and the metro. On a quieter street in a bustling area. Will definitely stay there again.

Good location
My wife and I stayed at this hotel in March and were quite pleased with it. As mentioned in other reviews the rooms are small but I think standard for European hotels. They were well maintained and cleaned everyday plus had a safe for valuables. The neighborhood is on a quiet street with lots of cafes, metro stations, and markets within walking distance. There is even a nice clean/automated (credit cards) laundromat on the same street. We didn't have the breakfast option so I can't speak to the quality of it. The front desk staff (Ann & Razvan) both went above and beyond in making calls for travel arrangements when requested and were in place with a smile when you entered the building. The beds were comfortable but slept a bit warm as there seemed to be a plastic mattress cover that kept the heat in. I would definitely stay here again as the convience to the Paris attractions is a big plus!

Heart of the real people's Paris! J'atrme!
Excellent ! Will be so happy to stay here in the future. USA travelers will find the rooms to be a bit smaller than USA hotels but it is certainly an A+ lodging in my book. The guest reception was beyond helpful and courteous. Man thanks Gulya!

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL! BETTER CHOICES NEARBY.
My advice--DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL. There are many other choices is this neighborhood. Primary hotel staff was horrible--arrogant, snotty, passive/aggressive, your-problem-is-not-my-problem kind of people. We booked three nights and A/C was broken (for the whole hotel) for our entire stay despite their daily promise someone would get around to looking at it--the room was unlivable and unsleepable with the heat and street noise from the open window...it was so uncomfortable (90 degrees F in room, so loud with windows open on narrow street) we finally moved out before our last night Their response when contacted by hotels.com for an adjustment was to not charge us the ~$6 in city tax, even though we had to double-book a room elsewhere and lose a day in Paris Any decent hotel would have refunded at least one, if not all nights. Rooms are very, very small, even for Paris. If you have two suitcases, you have to do some room rearranging to find a place to open them both, even is the most superior-class room like the one we had. And the condition of the hotel has deteriorated in the three years since we last stayed, with old carpet, no kettle or coffee maker or other amenities, etc. The only positive note is the neighborhood, which has many nice small restaurants and bakeries, plus the convenient location to two nearby Metro stops. Needless to say, we won't be staying there again on our next visit to Paris.
