Hotel Metropole, Brussels
Nice location/room but not the finest hospitality.
I was greatly looking forward to my stay in their junior suite. After arriving later in the evening, I can say it did not disappoint. My sister and I were able to unwind and relax, at least until the electricity went out in our room. They had said it was due to our convertor, however, this convertor had been utilized for the last week throughout the country with no problems. They had also said this happened to another couple yesterday in the same room. Ideally, they would have mentioned this prior to us checking into our room AND they could have offered their charger (always available at the concierge). We had to then be moved to another room, which unfortunately was a smoking room. They re-moved us to yet another room, which was a non-smoking room and a privilege size suite. By this point, it was almost one in the morning. Though tired, I must say the staff was kind and very helpful. It was the following morning, when speaking with the manager, that my disappointment in this hotel began. He had the audacity to say that the junior suite and the privilege room was exactly the same and would not reimburse the difference. While both rooms were beautiful, they were not the same (the jr. suite had a foyer, massive sitting room, hallway, extra large bathroom, etc.). He offered a free breakfast (cost was 30e per person) for two but would not reimburse the continued difference between the two rooms. I was greatly disappointed that the manager was not understanding or hospitable.

Just Do Not Talk In Your Sleep
I love this city, this building, the architecture, the service, the room, the furnishings, the staff BEAUTIFUL. One peculiar thing was I could hear the people in the next room having a conversation when I was in bed. Now if I heard them I can imagine they heard me and i was speaking the language of love. Family friendly I was not.

Great size room. separate toilet room in bathroom, quiet and great view from the 5th floor. However, like so many Belgium Bathrooms, the shower/bath was NOT comfortable to use. Good WIFI too
