Disappointing
If I could give half a star I would. This place was beyond disappointing for the price. When I'm paying over $300 a night for a standard room I do expect the room to be in a nice condition however that is not what I found after checking in. When I walked into the room it smelled of mold so I had to air it out for several hours by opening the patio door. The magnification mirror was falling off the wall in the bathroom, toilet seat was askew and broken, stains on the carpet and chair and I was missing several items. I had to call the front desk to request an ice bucket, a room service menu and a do not disturb door hanger. All things that I've had in other less expensive hotel rooms. Later on I found holes in my sheets large enough to put your finger through. I ordered room service at one point and received less than appetizing food. I ordered a ham and cheese croissant sandwich that was clearly frozen and had not been microwaved enough because it was half hot and half icy. When I complained to the front desk about the issues with my room the response I got was "thank you for letting us know because these issues clearly have not been caught before. We will make sure to take care of them for the next guest." Really?! No offer to remedy the situation for me at all or comp anything. She didn't even seem sorry that I had a horrible room and a less than satisfactory stay.

Smoking Mirrors
Our room had an awful smell, like a cesspool. I phoned the desk from room one and they agreed to move us to the second room, this room had the same smell. I felt embarrassed at this point because you hear of these divas out there, but this wasn't a rational smell. I walked back in to the lobby to tell them face to face. They kindly moved us to the East section. The third room, same smell. I, at this point just decided to keep the sliding door open to air it out. Sadly this didn't help the smell. I will add, the toilet didn't work and the coffee pot was missing a lid, the wifi was little or none. We went in the pool, the pools are amazing! The next morning the housekeeper walked in my room unannounced while I was in my towel and my husband was using the lavatory with the door open. This was probably my most memorable experience at a hotel in the wrong direction.

Boils Down to Service
Great location for the views and nearby restaurants (not on property restaurants.) This was our second year, and we were disappointed in the amount of noise to be heard from the room above and outside in the hallway. The beds are very comfortable, but the linens had some stains. The grout in the fantastic shower needed some attention with the mildew and the housekeeping dept. did not do a very good job-- bar top never wiped, ice bucket not wiped, one of the glasses had a small crack and broke when we put ice in it, but was not replaced... housekeeping left a piece of the broken glass on our apology/request. Being a resort, we understand that it gets busy, but this is the second year in a row that housekeeping has been an ongoing issue. The location is GREAT but we will be looking for someplace new next year.

What a shame
La Paloma has been our resort of choice for years and the service has always been phenomenal. This last weekend was a completely different story. The hotel was empty and running on a skeleton crew. There were easily 5-10 valet outside to park the cars but only one woman at the check in desk. We asked to be in a room overlooking the golf course and mountains, but were put in a room overlooking other rooms with a family above us. I'm not sure why that would be the room of choice when the hotel was hardly at capacity. Usually the staff is extremely welcoming and friendly. The waiter at the bar had a condescending attitude and I overheard other guests complaining that it took over an hour to be served. He was no better to us. Sunday we invited friends and family to join us for brunch to celebrate our engagement. There were 3 hostesses standing around chatting. One explained that although the brunch had been scaled back, we could still enjoy it and order specialty items off the menu. However, once our waiter arrived, 30 minutes later, he explained that brunch shut down at 11. To be fair, one waiter was running around trying to serve all the guests while the hostesses and a manager stood idly and chatted. This is an expensive resort and we were extremely disappointed in the quality of food and service especially considering what we paid. If there is a change in management I hope you will make better staffing decisions. We will not return to this property.

I was not overly impressed with this hotel. The first night we arrived very late and were put in a room that was so loud. The road noise was unbearable. I asked to be moved. I was told they didn't have any way to accommodate the request. A quick visit online showed otherwise. I recalled the front desk. Told them I could easily book another room and for much less than the rate I was given. This seemed to have made a difference. I was moved to a much quieter room. There was a half-drunk water bottle still in the refrigerator. Not impressed by the staff in that regard. Food mediocre and limited except in the restaurant Contigo which was very good. I will return to Tucson but I will not be staying here again.
