Payment issues- read warning!
We booked & paid through Hotels.com. Upon arrival at 2am we were told (through our friend that speaks Spanish) that we needed to pay the full amount for our stay in cash and that they had no way of collecting online payment. We promised to work it out after we got some sleep- which they honored. Later that morning we showed them the printed receipt and online receipt from our booking and they said it was a mistake- there was no way they could collect the money from hotels.com & we needed to pay them in cash, but this time the amount was higher than the first person had told us. After chatting with Hotels.com our money was refunded so we could pay the hotel directly as there was no other place big enough for our family available in the city center. We negotiated to pay the cost of the stay that was quoted by the night employee. So frustrating that we had this issue and felt like we were being taken advantage of or duped because we were foreigners. The hotel room was very basic, no place to set suitcases and no place to set toiletries in the bathroom but the beds were comfortable and the room was clean enough. Our room was right by the buzzer to get in and out and the front desk area- it was very noisy luckily we had earplugs. Overall the stay at this hotel served its purpose of a place to sleep and keep our belongings safe. Likely will find alternative next visit. Bakery right next store was delicious.
