Las Vegas may seem like an adult playground at first glance, but this vibrant city also attracts families with its arcade centres, interactive museums, and indoor wildlife parks. Older kids get to enjoy thrilling roller coasters, bumper cars, and activities such as rock-climbing and bungee-jumping at the city’s many theme parks, while parents with younger children can spend time at playgrounds and carousels.

Despite well-deserved nickname as “Sin City”, Vegas also has plenty of kid-friendly stage performances all year round, such as magic shows, breathtaking acrobatic shows, and juggling acts. Check out our list of Las Vegas’ family-friendly places.

    SkyJump in Las Vegas

Dive Into the Depths of Las Vegas

    SkyJump in Las Vegas
    • Adventure

SkyJump is bungee-jumping-meets-skydiving, and it’s located atop the Stratosphere Las Vegas Hotel & Casino (also known as the STRAT). You’re connected to a cord much like when bungee jumping, but there's less bouncing afterwards. After completing a safety briefing, jumpers are strapped into jumpsuits and harnesses with a short elastic line tethered to guide wires.

Next, it’s time for the plummet. Jumpers soar from the 108th floor of the casino tower above a view of the neon Strip, traveling 829 feet downward at speeds that can exceed 40 mph. For a sneak peek, check out footage from Jumpers on the STRAT’s webpage. The process, from being suited up to the jump itself, should take about 35 to 45 minutes, so you’ll have plenty of time before or afterwards to enjoy the other attractions of the STRAT. If you’re a thrill-seeker planning your next itinerary for a trip to Las Vegas, look no further than SkyJump.

Big Shot is a tower ride built on the top of The Strat Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. When it opened in 1996, it was the world’s highest amusement ride measured from ground level. It has since been surpassed by a taller ride in China. Its acceleration is pneumatically powered, enabling it to travel upwards at speeds of around 45 mph, which generates up to 4 Gs of force.

Sixteen riders are catapulted upwards from a platform 921 ft in the air to a height of 1,081 ft. It descends rapidly and then shoots upwards again accompanied by a cacophony of joyful screams.

    X-Scream

Fun amusement ride high above the Las Vegas Strip

    X-Scream
    • Couples
    • Families
    • Group

X-Scream is a thrilling ride in Las Vegas with a motion that mimics a seesaw, known in the U.S. as a teeter-totter. You’ll find it on the roof of The Strat Hotel and Casino, 866 ft above the sidewalk. Though the track looks similar to that of a rollercoaster, it pivots to create both horizontal and vertical motion.

Each automobile is propelled forward at high speed off the edge of the building. Riders dangle weightlessly high above the Las Vegas Strip until they travel backwards to do it all over again. It feels like you might fall right over the edge, so expect plenty of screams from fellow riders.
