Shopping in Chiang Mai covers everything from vibrant cultural night markets with locally handmade crafts to farmers' markets with fresh and prepared food and drink, to ultra-modern shopping malls. One of the best experiences is to explore the Sunday Walking Street on Ratchadamnoen filled with energetic food and crafts markets. The Saturday Walking Street occurs on Wualai and offers a similar experience.

Baan Kang Wat is a bit farther out but is an open-air artists' enclave with tons of small shops. The Chiang Mai Night Bazaar attracts thousands of people to its family-friendly atmosphere. If you want upmarket traditional shopping head for One Nimman shopping mall. One thing to remember about shopping here is to haggle on everything and anything.
