Dining out in Hua Hin means enjoying a great meal in an idyllic atmosphere, rather than indulging in a fine-dining experience (although there are more and more high-end options available). For many vacationers, seafood is the main reason to embark on a weekend trip to Hua Hin, and they are absolutely right. So, our best advice when it comes to dining in Hua Hin is to follow where they go.

This means most meals will take advantage of the bountiful seafood offerings available at the best restaurants in Hua Hin, and at much cheaper prices than you will find in Bangkok or Phuket. There is no more enjoyable dining experience in Hua Hin than eating freshly caught ocean treasures while looking out to sea on a breezy, balmy evening.

    You Yen Hua Hin Balcony

    Hua Hin

You Yen Hua Hin Balcony seafood restaurant gives you a glimpse into the Hua Hin of yesteryear. Fronting the sea and surrounded by a landscaped garden, the restaurant is set in an elegant, restored wooden Thai house built in the 1920s. It has a sweeping beachfront that doubles as an alfresco dining area.

You Yen Hua Hin Balcony’s menu focuses on regional Thai dishes, with a selection of traditional snacks as well as fiery tom yam and Thai salads.

    Beach Society

Beach Society at SO Sofitel Hua Hin combines ocean views with a modern menu of signature creations. The international dishes are all made with the freshest Thai ingredients and, surrounded by SO Sofitel Hua Hin's beachfront, there are few cooler places to dine.

This is certainly more on the side of western comfort food than haute cuisine, but when you are just a few meters from the shore of Cha-am, it fits just right. The squid with polenta, mushroom and sundried tomato is a must-try, as is the rich choco-lava cake for dessert.

Location: 115 Moo 7 Tambol Bangkao, Cha-am, Phetchaburi 76120, Thailand

Open: Daily from 11 am to 11pm

    Chaolay Seafood Hua Hin

Baked scallops in garlic butter sauce, crab curry, deep-fried Indo-Pacific mackerel in fish sauce and tom yam seafood are among the highly recommended picks from the menu.

    Trattoria by Andreas

    Hua Hin

Trattoria by Andreas is one of the many Italian restaurants to choose from in Hua Hin, but it is the finest in town for our money. Classic yet cool, you can enjoy pasta and pizza here or go for a full evening of pan-seared foie gras, antipasti, Australian tenderloin steak and fine Italian wine.

Choose to dine in the smart inside dining room or out on the second-floor terrace, which is romantic despite the lack of sea views.

Location: 4/91 Soi Mooban Nongkae, Tambon Nong Kae, Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan 77110, Thailand

Open: Saturday–Thursday from 12 pm to 2 pm and from 5 pm to 10 pm, Fridays from 12 pm to 10 pm

    Railroad Restaurant

    Hua Hin

Railroad Restaurant at Centara Grand Beach shows off the 1920s-style colonial luxury that Hua Hin is famous for, being inspired by the grand Hua Hin Railroad Station. Featuring a menu of Thai and international favorites, you can dine here for breakfast and dinner, with a fancy afternoon tea option for those so inclined.

On weekends, Railroad Restaurant has a luxury buffet menu to enjoy. The service and layout of the restaurant are among the nicest in Hua Hin, too.

Location: 1 Damnernkasem Road, Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan 77110, Thailand

    Hua Hin

Orchids Restaurant at Fulay Hotel is located on the main beach stretch, close to Hilton Hua Hin. This Thai-French restaurant features an extensive selection of seafood, broiled meat, steaks as well as beers, wines and cocktails on its menu.

Each dish is prepared with the freshest ingredients and organic produce. Seating neighborhoods occupy 2 levels and feature Thai art on the walls. The street level has a more elaborate atmosphere, with high ceilings, stained glasses and wood accents.

Location: 110/1 Naresdamri Rd, Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan 77110, Thailand

Open: Daily from 6 pm to 10 pm

    Let’s Sea

    Hua Hin

Let’s Sea Pub & Restaurant is a restaurant in Hua Hin that's part of the chic alfresco resort of the same name. It wows its patrons with sweeping ocean views, a chill ambience and a menu that fuses contemporary Thai and international flavors.

Think soft shell crab som tam, sautéed big clams with white wine sauce and rock lobster gratin. The attached Breeze Bar offers a creative beverages menu, including 5 variations of martini, cocktails and mocktails.

Location: 83/188 Soi Talay 12, Nong Kae, Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan 77110, Thailand

    Jim-Dang Restaurant

Jim-Dang Restaurant is a beachfront restaurant just south of the main Pranburi intersection that is not to be missed. The menu features regional Thai and seafood dishes whipped up from fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

Most notable is the robust flavor of the sauces, as each dish is richly seasoned with local herbs and spices. Try broiled tiger prawns, stir-fried clams in thick chili sauce, deep-fried fish cake and fish som tam.

    Oceanside Beach Club & Restaurant

    Hua Hin

Oceanside is like a little taste of Miami or Ibiza in sleepy old Hua Hin. This beach club has a menu of fancy world delicacies such as oysters, wagyu beef, tuna tartare and foie gras, all accompanied by a cool crowd enjoying the live DJ playing lounge house.

It’s not typically Hua Hin in concept but we are happy for the option of something more modern. It's among the priciest places to dine in Hua Hin but the quality food and beachfront setting reflect the price. You can find the restaurant along the sand at Putahrasca Hua Hin Resort.

Location: Putahrasca Hua Hin Resort, 22/65 Naeb Kaehat Rd, Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan 77110, Thailand

Open: Daily from 11 am to 11 pm

    Hin Lek Fai Restaurant

    Hua Hin

Hin Lek Fai Restaurant is located on the outskirts of Hua Hin, surrounded by flowering plants and vegetable gardens. The menu covers a host of European and Asian dishes. The menu prices are very reasonable but it’s the natural ambience that brings Thai families into the hills above Hua Hin Town to enjoy a relaxed dinner.

The restaurant is not far from Khao Hin Lek Fai Viewpoint. Due to the small and intimate setting, reservations are necessary.

Location: 102/172 Soi 10, Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan 77110, Thailand

Open: Wednesday–Monday from 5 pm to 10 pm (closed on Tuesdays)
