The best shopping malls in Phuket compare favourably to Bangkok’s mega-shopping complexes. As with their famous counterparts from the capital of Thailand, they feature international brand names at bargain prices, great entertainment opportunities, and restaurants serving cuisines from all around the world.

The history of large supermarkets and malls in Phuket doesn’t go back in time that far. The first large shopping complex to ever open on the island was Tesco Lotus in just 1998! Since then, they’ve been popping up all over. Have a look at the most popular shopping malls in Phuket – you'll feel at home at any of these modern and well-stocked venues.

Jungceylon Mall enjoys an extremely convenient location in the heart of Patong Beach. Featuring a large Big C supermarket, 7 leisure entertainment venues (including 5 movie theatres at SF Movie theater City), a Robinson department store, 200-plus boutiques, a stylish hotel (Millenium Resort Patong) and over 25 restaurants and bars, Jungceylon Mall is almost a city within the city. If you can't find the thing you're looking for at Jungceylon, then you won’t find it in Phuket!

Situated on the western outskirts of Phuket City, Central Festival Phuket is the largest shopping mall in Phuket. The main 3-storey building houses a large Central department store featuring all the major brand names in the matter of clothing, homeware, and cosmetics. There are also countless fashion, electronics, and sportswear boutiques, a food-court plus a great choice of local and international restaurants and an SFX Movie theater. Limelight Avenue is a modern shopping mall located on New Dibuk Road, in the heart of Phuket City. This excellent location, a few steps away from Phuket Old Town, permits locals and tourists alike to benefit from a nice air-conditioned refuge to take a break from the heat, find something to drink and eat, or do a bit of shopping while exploring the historical district of Phuket Island’s capital. It's also the home of the Phuket Indy Market.

Premium Outlet Phuket is a very original shopping venue in Phuket. Located along the Bypass Road, on the northwestern outskirts of Phuket City, this shopping complex is built like a village that only features boutiques and (a few) restaurants and bars on its streets. The peculiarity of Premium Outlet Phuket is that all the boutiques it hosts are brand-named and sell (mostly) only discontinued items at rock-bottom rates. From shoes to shirts to pants to sportswear to toys, there's always a good deal awaiting customers at one of the corners of this quirky yet charming shopping mall.

    Banana Walk

    Patong Beach

Made of stainless steel, aluminum and Plexiglas, Banana Walk is a futuristically designed shopping mall located on Patong Beach Road, 100 meters south of Bangla Road. Lit with colorful LED lights, it looks really impressive at night. This 3-storey shopping and dining complex is a melting spot of flavors throughout its 7 restaurants, and of fashion styles throughout its brand-named boutique stores. A convenience store can also be found on the second floor, which is very useful in case you forgot your sunscreen on the way to the rooftop mini-golf course.

    Surin Tesco Lotus Park

The Surin Tesco Lotus Park offers easy shopping and leisure time to Cherngtalay and Surin Beach residents and has facilities for expats and hotel guests as well as locals. A large Tesco Lotus supermarket with parking spaces can be found at its nucleus, while diagonally opposite stands a McDonald’s branch with both indoor and outdoor seating. An assortment of other stores dot the area, including a pharmacy, a handful of restaurants and other helpful spots.

Location: 474 Srisoonthorn Road, Cherngtalay, Thalang, Phuket 83110, Thailand

    Phuket HomePro Village

Phuket HomePro Village consists of a big home improvement store and several other retail shops and banks including Boots Pharmacy, Top Charoen Optical, a camera and IT shop, sportswear and more. There's also a Villa Supermarket, making this a particularly popular spot for the local expat community.

Location: 61/10 Moo 10, Chalong, Muang, Phuket, 83130, Thailand

    Big C

Just 300 meters north of Central shopping mall on the Bypass Rd is another shopping mall called Big C. The outdoor parking lot (there's also underground parking here) is the site of quite a few clothes stalls and several stalls selling car accessories as well as decorative household goods. Inside the mall is a modest choice of shops and restaurants, a food court and, of course, the Big C supermarket.

    Index Living Mall

Close to Central Phuket shopping mall is the Index Living Mall, which specializes in chic household goods. There are home theatre systems, artworks, bedding, kitchenware and even a few clothes outlets, but the main part of the mall deals in high-quality homeware items such as pans, rugs and the like. And in case you get the munchies while shopping, there's a rather incongruous food outlet right by the cashiers.

Location: Soi Chaloem Phrakiat, Wichit, Muang, Phuket 83000, Thailand

Open: Daily from 10am to 8pm

Supercheap, just north of Phuket Town, is well worth a visit. Almost the size of a city block, it's a sprawling warehouse-like shop stacked high with every product you could possibly imagine and more. If there's any logic to its layout, it would be difficult to explain, but its seeming lack of logic is the very essence of its charm. And it lives up to its name, so expect to be able to bag some bargains.

    Tesco Lotus Extra Phuket

Tesco Lotus Extra was the first major modern mall in Phuket and has a range of high-quality goods on offer. It's basically a supermarket with a decent toys department and a pretty good electronics section. The mall also features other stores such as McDonald’s, Boots, a good electronics shop, lots of fast food, fashion outlets and more ATM machines than you can shake a bank card at. There are also some stalls in the walkways between the many stores. Upstairs is a food court and a kids' play area.
