The best shopping opportunities in Kamala Beach are found in the genuine local markets that are held 3 times per week. While Kamala has changed a lot in the past few decades (and is still changing), it somehow retains a good part of its original spirit.

The village is not what you'd call a trendy shopping destination (it leaves that title to its larger neighbor, Patong Beach), but has enough quality stores and plazas to please its visitors. The best shopping options in Kamala feature outdoor markets, shopping plazas, supermarkets and more.

    Kamala Friday Market

Kamala Friday Night Market is the equivalent of Phuket Weekend Market or Phuket Walking Street at Kamala’s scale. This market is also known as Fantasea Market due to its location right opposite the famous Fantasea Phuket entertainment complex.

Kamala Friday Night Market has gained a lot in popularity since its creation and its size seems to expand week after week. The goods sold here are the usual suspects: clothing, fashion accessories (bags, hats, scarves), electronic or mechanical gadgets and toys, and so on. The most interesting side of the market is its food section, which offers an incredible choice of delicious local products and ready-made snacks, from tropical fruits to pancakes to satay to sushi.

    Kamala Beach Plaza

Kamala Beach Plaza is a small plaza made of 2 rows of stalls/shops set in a 1-storey building located between Rim Hat Road and the beach, right next to Charoen seafood restaurant.

Among the stalls hosted in Kamala Beach Plaza, visitors can find an interesting choice of beachwear, clothing, accessories, gifts and souvenirs, as well as a mini-mart. Its central location and its entrance doors onto both the beach and the main road make it a convenient shopping place.

    Kamala Walk Way

Kamala Walk Way (also known as Foxtail Plaza Walk Way) is a small arcade located off Rim Hat Road, in the center of Kamala Village. A mere 150 meters from the beach, the plaza houses a dozen small stores such as massage parlors, art galleries, a tattoo studio, and a tailor.

Kamala Walk Way also hosts restaurants and coffee-shops – the Steakhouse Kamala, La Carbonara, The Café by Zen, and Thai Sugar Hut. The walkway is nicely organized, with tropical plants and trees on both sides, and well-thought-out lighting.

    Kamala Village Market

Kamala Village Market is held twice a week – Wednesday and Saturday – along the main road, 100 meters on the right after the southern entrance of Kamala. It's a colorful and lively fresh market that can give visitors a glimpse of daily life in southern Thailand and the chance to discover a great choice of local products.

Vegetables, fruits, spices, meat and fish are the main articles for sale at Kamala Village Market, but shoppers can also find clothing and useful accessories, as well as a wide selection of ready-made snacks and food to sample onsite. Starting at the end of the afternoon, it's a cool place to wander around when things cool down a bit.

    Big C

Big C is the first and only large supermarket in Kamala Beach. There are a bunch of 7-Eleven, Family Marts, and mom-and-pop grocery stores all around the village, but nothing on the same scale as the supermarket. Located on the left-hand side of the main road shortly after the southern entrance of Kamala, Big C conveniently combines grocery store and mini-mall articles. Food, drink, clothing, sunglasses, accessories, tools; you can find all the essentials and a lot of non-essentials here at reasonable prices.

Location: Khok Yang Rd, Kamala, Kathu, Phuket 83120, Thailand

Open: Daily from 8am to midnight
