Chinatown
What to do in Chinatown
Chinatown makes for a pleasant stroll with its colorful Peranakan shophouses and a handful of historical attractions. It is divided into 4 main districts, namely Kreta Ayer, Telok Ayer, Tanjong Pagar and Bukit Pasoh, but the center of activities revolves around Smith and Pagoda Streets. Chinatown is also home to restored shops and ethnic places of worship, such as the Thian Hock Keng Hokkien temple, Sri Mariamman Hindu Temple, and Jamae Mosque.
Chinatown is a haven for hawker food lovers. For a taste of something authentic, head to Maxwell Road Hawker Center for a cheap yet tasty meal with the locals. There’s a good mix of hotels in this part of Singapore, from heritage shophouse hotels to 5-star luxury boutique accommodations. The Chinatown MRT Station brings you to the doorstep of Pagoda Street.
