    Acapulco Botanical Garden may be one of the most classically romantic sites you can visit in Acapulco, with acres of tropical oasis nestled in the Sierra Madre Mountains. This garden is intricately tended and cared for, and as you wind your way through the walking paths, you'll see water features, rock sculptures, and tons of plants in every size and color, from exotic flowers to lush ferns to rare and endangered hardwood trees. The park is noted, in fact, for its seriously endangered Peltogryne Mexicana, or purpleheart, trees.

    The park is only 10 minutes away from downtown Acapulco but seems like a whole separate world. Be aware that there aren't any restaurants in the garden, so bring a snack.

    Galerias Acapulco

    Shop one of the region's premier malls

    Galerias Acapulco is the place to go if you want to get your shop on, a large indoor mall featuring all the biggest name brands as well as indie shops. Here you can find everything from electronics to gifts and gadgets to the latest haute couture fashions from the hottest designers. The mall features a food court sit-down eatery and a multiplex movie theater if you want to catch the latest blockbuster. The mall even has a pet store so you can pop in to say hello to all the puppies and kittens.

    The mall was formerly known as the Gran Plaza, and some locals may still call it by that name. It's 30 minutes west of downtown.

    See the "new" Acapulco

    Punta Diamante showcases the new Acapulco, a hip and modern Mexican city with resort-style hotels and restaurants offering luxury accommodation, quiet beaches, and refined experiences. Even if you don't stay here, it's a place to visit for that romantic dinner for 2, for photo opportunities with astounding panoramic views, historic points of interest, and a relaxed, welcoming, and friendly vibe all around. This neighborhood is south of the city, a drive of about 22 minutes, so it's an easy jaunt to check out.

    If you do plan to grab a sit-down meal here, be aware that many of the local fine dining establishments require reservations in advance. It's an up-and-coming region that's popular with visitors and locals alike.

    La Capilla de la Paz

    Catch a view from the city's highest viewpoint

    La Capilla de la Paz, or the Chapel of Peace, offers gorgeous seaside views of the surrounding region and a serene atmosphere at a local landmark commemorating a tragedy.     Forum de Mundo Imperial is the place to go if you want to have a concert experience, offering a 4,000-seat capacity arena that has hosted many notable acts. This arena has hosted The Cranberries, Gloria Trevi, Alejandro Fernandez, and others. It's also the site of major events like the Premios TVyNovelas, which are akin to the Mexican Emmy Awards. One of the great things about this arena is that there's not a bad seat in the house—the farthest is only 35 feet from the stage, while the closest is less than 6 feet away.
