Fine-dining venues are certainly not lacking in the city, many of which have won international awards for their exceptional service and food. 

    To enjoy Hong Kong's very finest restaurants doesn't come cheap, but there are some great value options too. Logic dictates that authentic Chinese food is easily found so you shouldn't feel obliged to go to big-name restaurants for a satisfying meal.     One Harbour Road at Grand Hyatt Hong Kong combines classic Cantonese dishes with premium ingredients as crab claw, wagyu beef, and abalone. The restaurant interior resembles a 1930s mansion, with mismatching tableware, wooden furnishing, and a centerpiece fountain with glass mosaics.

    From your table, Victoria Harbour and the many buildings of Kowloon on the opposite bank are visible – they look particularly impressive around dusk and at 8pm when the popular Symphony of Lights takes place.

    Amber at The Landmark Mandarin Oriental is an award-winning restaurant in Central Hong Kong. Dutch chef Richard Ekkebus leads the culinary team here, producing fantastically plated dishes using high-quality ingredients and minimal seasoning.

    L’Atelier Joel Robuchon

    L’Atelier Joel Robuchon is a 3 Michelin-starred gem within Landmark Hong Kong. The fine restaurant takes on the same ‘workshop’ theme as Joel Robuchon's other branches, with most of the chairs surrounding the central kitchen adding a theatrical dining experience to your meal. 

    Superstar chef Joel Robuchon has racked up more than 25 Michelin stars with his collection of fine-dining restaurants around the world, so it's safe to say that French haute cuisine is his specialty.

    Spring Deer Restaurant

    Kowloon - Roast Duck

    Spring Deer Restaurant is spacious and can seat up to 300 diners, with a food menu that focuses on roasted meats. It can get rather hectic at times, but its staff are well trained and tend to seat foreigners together to stay on top of things.

    The specialty at Spring Deer Restaurant is Peking duck, served with hoisin sauce. Portions are large, so try to go in a group so that you can order other dishes for sharing.

    The Boathouse

    Stanley – Seafood

    The Boathouse is a 3-storey building with a rooftop section offering great views over Stanley Bay. You can't miss it – the corner lot restaurant stands out with its bright yellow and white exterior. It's one of the best places to head for if you’re after a quaint seaside atmosphere and a memorable dining occasion.

    The Boathouse's international ala carte menu spotlights fresh seafood, with an incredibly diverse menu offering everything from curry crab to African chicken and tandoori swordfish.

    Yan Toh Heen at Intercontinental Hong Kong is a Cantonese fine-dining restaurant with stunning harbourfront views. The gourmet dim sum menu makes for a truly special lunch, while the fish and meat dishes are delicately flavored with world delicacies such as black truffle, bird’s nest and abalone.

    The desserts at Yan Toh Heen are similarly sublime; a combination of Executive Chef Lau Yiu Fai and pastry Chef Cyril Dupris. The dining room is palatial, with masses of jade tableware and wall art.

    Sai Kung Seafood Street

    New Territories – Seafood

    Sai Kung Seafood Street in the New Territories is one of the best places for local seafood. There are many restaurants located in small coastal villages, where dining is casual, inexpensive, and authentically local. 

    Seafood fans can head for the seafront promenade, where they can buy freshly caught fish straight off the deck or, in some cases, straight from the boat. You can then take it to one of the promenade restaurants, and have it prepared according to your liking. You can dine here around the clock as most restaurants are open 24 hours.

    Tim Ho Wan

    Central - Dim Sum

    Tim Ho Wan may have several branches throughout Asia, but this Hong Kong dim sum restaurant is still popular among tourists looking to enjoy quality dim sum. As one of the cheapest Michelin-starred restaurants, you may have to wait for up to 1hour to secure a table (there is a no reservation policy at all branches of Tim Ho Wan).

    An order sheet listing around 30 types of dim sum is available at every table. After ticking off what you like (shrimp dumplings and chicken feet are highly recommended), pass the sheet to a waiting staff and wait for your order, which usually arrives within 10 minutes.

    Tenku RyuGin

    Kowloon - Japanese

    Tenku RyuGin, regularly touted as one of the finest restaurants in Asia, excels in delectable cuisine as well as stunning views over Hong Kong. Many Kowloon restaurants take advantage of the plethora of skyscrapers facing Hong Kong Island, but none quite like Tenku RyuGin, which is found on the 101st floor of the ICC building, one of the tallest skyscrapers in Hong Kong.

    Its seasonal menu really does promise a gastronomic experience like no other – think charcoal grilled alfonsino with watercress purée, straw smoked oyster with caviar and kombu jelly, and charcoal grilled French duck.
