Chania is one of the largest cities on the Greek island of Crete. It’s built around its Venetian Harbour and historical quarter, with remnants of Turkish architecture to add a slightly more exotic flair. Be sure to check out Skrydlof – this shopping street has rows of shops specializing in leather products, with some creative restaurants nearby.

Chania has a more chilled-out atmosphere than many of its neighbours, making it an excellent place to get away from it all and unwind. The city also has a stronger focus on history and culture than most other places in Crete, with must-sees like its ancient mosque, churches and fortifications. However, there’s still a nice beach or 2 nearby if you just want to catch some rays.
