Excellent beer, let down by the food
This Inn is not quite everything it was built up to be in previous reviews but still a good value choice.
Location-wise it is well situated for access to the surrounding towns, particularly Hereford, though one should note that it sits right on the main road and this does lead to quite some road noise until late at night and from early in the morning.
The room I slept in was very simple with a tiny bathroom but it was clean and perfectly acceptable for the price charged (which included a full breakfast). The above-mentioned road noise was a little annoying at times.
The combination of excellent personnel and very nice beer is the key highlight of this place and this did partly make up for the disappointing food. The home-made chips were solid, almost like they had been fried twice, and the fish was OK but again, the beer batter could have been lighter. The breakfast the following morning was also somewhat of a let-down - the toast was burnt, and the bacon, sausage and beans all felt like they had been cooking for hours.
All-in-all, very good for the price but with room for improvement.
