We were just delighted with this gem of a boutique hotel in downtown Madison. The location is so central to great coffee shops, restaurants, and the city’s live music and bar scene. Our room was beautifully furnished with a comfy bed, antique desk, chair, and nice TV. One particularly nice touch was an actual coffee brewer, along with fresh ground coffee, cream, and big ceramic mugs, no lousy Keurig dredge. Nice reusable water bottles were in the fridge. Actual glasses are provided, rather than plastic cups. We appreciated having a double sink combo too and a great shower.
There is no front desk but the phone number gets you immediate help. We arrived before our 4 pm check in, and the kind man immediately answering the phone unlocked the outside keypad for us so we could get into the lobby.
The history of the building is loads of fun and explained in the lobby. I was charmed by the phonograph in the lobby, which was playing John Prine when we arrived and John Denver the next morning.
Street parking was easy to find, and the hotel was very quiet at night (only 7 rooms in all),
I hope to stay at The Chandler again!
