Moda Center Introduction

Featuring a distinctive rooftop with a saddle silhouette, Moda Center is an indoor sports and entertainment venue that opened in 1995. It's home to the National Basketball Association’s Portland Trail Blazers and the Western Hockey League’s Portland Winterhawks, and also hosts concerts and conventions. Once known as the Rose Garden, it’s capable of holding nearly 20,000 spectators and is part of a larger sports district known as the Rose Quarter. Here you’ll also find the neighboring Memorial Coliseum, which plays host to several sporting events throughout the year, along with some restaurants.

Hotels near Moda Center

There’s a wide range of hotels surrounding the venue, ranging from budget properties to more luxurious lodging options. Several 3- and 4-star hotels offer upscale amenities like rooftop restaurants, chic bars, and in-room massage treatments. Peak season in Portland is between June and August—temperatures rise and so do room rates. October is a great time to find a room at a reduced price, as summer tourists leave the city and temperatures begin to drop. However, the lowest rates are found during Portland’s rain-heavy winters, when some hotels cut their prices by as much as 50 percent.
