16th Street Mall Introduction

Boasting over 300 stores and 50 restaurants, the mile-long 16th Street Mall in downtown Denver is a big draw to the city. Opened in 1982, it originally stretched from Market Street to Broadway. In 2002 it was extended to Union Station and has become the city's main shopping and entertainment district. Nearby is the art deco Paramount Theater and the modern Temple Hoyne Buell Theatre, and it's just a few blocks north of Denver Art Museum. There are plenty of sports bars, boutique coffee shops, and restaurants within a few short steps, as well as Tiri's Garden Farmers Market.

How to get to 16th Street Mall

Easy to reach by car, the 16th Street Mall is 1.6 miles from I-25, and there's paid parking lots within steps of the shops. The 16th Street Mall also has its own free transportation called MallRide, which traverses the 16-block area. You can also use it to access Union Station, where the Amtrak comes in, as well as the Colorado Convention Center and Denver Performing Arts Complex. Denver International Airport is 27.8 miles east of downtown, and a direct train runs into Union Station. There's also a Light Rail Train network which criss-crosses the city, and stops moments from the mall.
