Savannah Hotels

Savannah is a relaxed residential community on the south western shore of Grand Cayman, the largest of the Caribbean's Cayman Islands. Set slightly east of Grand Cayman’s jazzy capital of George Town, Savannah’s quiet atmosphere, peaceful palm-studded streets, and neighborly locals offer a calm and soothing antidote to the capital’s buzzing energy. Savannah is also a shopping hotspot, offering ritzy malls and niche boutiques. But the neighborhood and its surrounding sun-soaked shoreline are full of historical landmarks, too.

Things to see

Grand Cayman’s honey-like sunshine and cloudless blue skies make you want to do nothing else but find a beach and catch a few rays - but there’s plenty to see and do in Savannah first. Bargain-hunting shoppers should head to the Countryside Shopping Village, a spacious complex that boasts a range of beauty salons, upscale wine-stores, and tasty eateries. After you’ve splurged, visit some of Savannah’s historic landmarks. Stop by Pedro St. James Castle - just south of central Savannah - the oldest building in the Cayman Islands. The Castle, a grand, 18th century manor house overlooking the aquamarine ocean, is hailed as the birthplace of democracy in the Caymans. Today, you can take a guided tour, and grab a bite at its quaint café. After a day of sightseeing, it’s time to hit the beach - head to Savannah's small Spotts Beach for white-gold sands, warm waters, and swaying palm trees.

Where to stay

Central Savannah is a great area for couples and families alike, providing an idyllic oases of calm and quiet away from the hubbub of George Town, but close enough so that day trips to the city are hassle-free. Enjoy the fiery, orange sunsets, lazy beach days, and picturesque hikes along the rocky Pedro cliffs. If you want to immerse yourself in rustic, old-world Grand Cayman history, then nearby Bodden Town - with its Mission House and traditional restaurants - is for you. Of course, beach-loving sun-seekers after a glitzy resort haven can always stay along the popular coastline in western George Town.

How to get to Savannah

From the airport, the best way to get to Savannah is to hop in a taxicab, which wait outside the main entrance and offer cheap fixed rates to many of the island’s main areas.
