Harrahs Cherokee Casino Introduction

Owned by the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort is one of only 2 casinos in North Carolina. It also has the only licensed bars in the town of Cherokee. The resort includes a conference center, a 3,000-seat events center, a pool, and a food court with four restaurants. The casino opened in 1997 on the site of the former Frontier Land theme park. The tribe has used its casino revenues to build a new high school, a hospital, and public housing, and it distributes funds directly to the Cherokee population.

There are 3 high-rise hotels on the complex, including the largest hotel in North Carolina. All have spacious upscale rooms and suites. Amenities include a 24/7 fitness room, indoor and outdoor pools, cabanas, and poolside bars. Along the US-19 highway there are also a number of 2-star and 3-star hotels that offer cheaper alternatives to the hotel towers in the resort. All of these feature free breakfast and Wi-Fi; some have pools. You may find the best deals during the colder winter months, when fewer people venture into the nearby national park.
