Amalie Arena Introduction

Since it opened in 1996, Amalie Arena has been home to the National Hockey League’s Tampa Bay Lightning and the Arena Football League’s Tampa Bay Storm, as well as hundreds of concerts and occasional college sporting events. The glass-fronted venue, originally dubbed “The Ice Palace,” offers expansive downtown views from its 11,000-square-foot Bud Light Party Deck. State-of-the-art equipment, including a digital pipe organ, LED signs, and hundreds of lights, has made the venue one of the most popular in the country. There are several restaurants and bars throughout the arena, which has a capacity of up to 20,000 spectators.
