Ryman Auditorium Introduction

Ryman Auditorium is an intimate performance venue sometimes referred to as the “Mother Church of Country Music.” Built in the late 19th century, it was once the home of the Grand Ole Opry. Today, the venue seats over 2,000 guests and features a renovated and expanded interior. There’s an on-site restaurant, a 100-seat theater, and the original auditorium. The performance venue hosts regular concerts from major country music stars, and occasionally serves as a hall for memorial services, too. The auditorium is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 2001.
