Los Cabos Hotels

Reclining on the sunbaked southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula, Los Cabos is one of Mexico’s hottest vacation hotspots. Its 2 cities – Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo – boast a myriad of things to see and do, from enchanting dolphin and whale watching experiences, to adrenaline-fueled watersports, indulgent culinary pleasures, and hip nighttime hedonism. Of course, if blissing out on a beach or being holed up in a luxury spa is more your kind of pace, then there’s plenty of that too.

Things to see

Unsurprisingly, Los Cabos’ main lures are the bleach blonde beaches that gild its glittering Pacific coastline. Medano Beach is Cabo San Lucas’ primary stretch, where sun worshippers can bask, the energetic can swim or play volleyball, and watersports junkies can jet ski or kayak. In the distance Land’s End can clearly be seen. Appropriately known as The Arch, the craggy rock formation is one of the region’s grandest geological landmarks. If Medano Beach is a little busy for your tastes, then hop aboard a water taxi to Lover’s Beach. A quieter alternative, the sandy parcel is framed with imposing rock formations, seemingly secluding it from the rest of the world. Moments from San Jose del Cabo, Costa Azul Beach is a mecca for seasoned surfers. Home of the popular Zippers surf break, the beach also offers equipment rentals and lots of sandy sunbathing space for the more sedate.

When it comes to the luxury resorts and hotels in Los Cabos, aficionados of the 5-star lifestyle will be spoiled for choice. Boasting serene beachfront locations, the celeb-approved properties pamper guests with the likes of full-service spas, first-rate restaurants, and lagoon-style pools wrapped in tropical gardens. If that’s a little out of your budget however, then fear not. The more modest hotels in Los Cabos beckon for bookings with a similar range of amenities and in-room creature comforts, though do become less fancy the less you pay. If you are looking for thriftier digs however, there’s no shortage of budget hotels and motels, many of which still offer a pool.

Where to stay

Studded with glamorous resorts, upscale boutiques, and top notch restaurants, Cabo San Lucas lures in a mix of families and discerning jetsetters. The city is especially well known for its buzzing party scene, where nighttime revelry comes in trendy style. Just 20 minutes’ drive northeast you’ll find Cabo San Lucas’ quieter sibling, San Jose del Cabo. Home to 18th century Spanish colonial architecture, pristine beaches, and simple pleasures, the town offers a much more low-key stay. Nature lovers will love San Jose’s Estuary and Bird Sanctuary, whilst golfers can find a picture perfect round at the Palmilla Golf Club. Stretching between the communities, the Tourist Corridor is lined with beachfront hotels.

When you’ve landed you can get to your accommodation by rental car or taxi, though pre-booked transfer vans are usually the cheapest method.
