Hostels in Guanajuato

Beneath a rainbow of hillside houses, narrow callejones twist through this UNESCO city where no street seems to run straight. Duck into the Callejón del Beso where balconies nearly touch, inspiring tales of forbidden romance. The ornate Juárez Theater hosts performances worth dressing up for, while the Mummy Museum displays eerily preserved remains with matter-of-fact Mexican humor about mortality. Climb the steps to the massive El Pípila monument for panoramic views that explain the city's improbable layout. Underground tunnels, once riverbeds now serving as roads, create a subterranean maze beneath your feet. University students perform as costumed troubadours, leading evening tours filled with legends and serenades that echo off colonial walls.
