SAP Center at San Jose Introduction

Nicknamed the "shark tank," the SAP Center is an imposing modern structure near San Jose’s Downtown. This indoor arena is home to the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League, and the San Jose Barracuda of the American Hockey League. The hockey season runs from September to April, and games generate a great atmosphere with 17,000 fans in the arena. As well as hockey, the arena has hosted many other sporting events such as WWE, Wrestlemania, and both figure skating and gymnastics championships, as well as big-name music concerts.

There are a couple of straightforward hotels just to the west of the arena along The Alameda, but you'll find more choice if you cross under the Guadalupe Parkway into Downtown San Jose. The area around San Jose State University has options but can be an expensive place to stay, since tech industry HQs such as Adobe are close by. Many hotels offer gourmet restaurants, chic bars, and relaxing spas, plus meeting or conference rooms. For best room rates, avoid business visitors by choosing weekend stays, or arriving in off-peak winter months.
