University of Southern California Introduction

The University of Southern California (USC) may seem familiar, even if you have never visited the campus. With its proximity to Hollywood, the site is often used as a backdrop for films, TV programs, and music videos. With its mid-19th century red brick buildings, inspired by 11th and 12th-century Romanesque architecture, it's California's oldest private research university and teaches about 43,000 students. It's home to the world’s most powerful quantum computer, and is also known for its famous marching band, The Spirit of Troy.

Although prices here can be high, even for basic places, you can also find some of the city’s most sought-after hotels with roof decks, gourmet dining, and chic cocktail bars. The best room rates are in the winter months, but it may be wise to pack an umbrella as it can be wet.
