Cheap areas to stay in Miami

There’s lots of cheap hotels in Miami, and you’ll find many of them in South Beach. Situated in the city of Miami Beach, just over the bay from Miami’s downtown, the area is known for its vibrant nightlife, the iconic Ocean Drive, and the pastel-painted curves of its Art Deco architecture. Downtown Miami also features its fair share of affordable digs. A collection of steely skyscrapers clustered on the shimmering waterfront, the district is home to attractions like the kitschy Bayside Marketplace, the idyllic Bayfront Park, and plenty shops, restaurants, and museums too.

Cheap hotels in Miami

The 2-star River Park Hotel & Suites towers over downtown Miami’s glittering waterfront. Its amenities include an outdoor pool and meeting rooms, whilst its simple but pleasantly decorated rooms feature cable TVs and plush bedding. Conveniently close to the airport, the Ramada Miami Springs hotel is ideal if you want the comfortable familiarity of a chain name stay. With an on-site restaurant, pool, and fitness center, it lacks none of the necessities. The no-frills Rodeway Inn Miami is situated a little out of the loop in North Miami Beach, but provides plenty of creature comforts and savings.

Where to find cheap food in Miami

Since Miami is well known for being a playground for the rich and famous, you’d be forgiven for thinking that all the food in town would be fancy and expensive, too – fortunately that’s not the case. There’s a huge choice of cheap dining spots in the area, and they’re scattered throughout Miami and Miami Beach, as opposed to just being clustered around certain areas. Among them you’ll find everything from cozy sandwich bars and budget-friendly seafood joints, to locally owned Mexican diners and restaurants serving up Miami’s flavorsome “Floribbean” fare.

Cheap things to do in Miami

Miami is teeming with low or no-cost things to do, and one of them is the main lure for sun-seeking vacationers: the beaches. With their powder-white sand and warm turquoise waters, you won’t have to go far to enjoy swimming, sunbathing, or energetic games of volleyball if you’re feeling a little livelier. The calm and carefree Bayfront Park is another idyllic spot to enjoy the sunshine, and plays host to free outdoor yoga classes every week. For culture vultures there’s the HistoryMiami Museum, where you can learn about the region’s past, and the Perez Art Museum Miami, which offers free admission 2 days a month. And don’t forget to check out Miami’s historical attractions: There’s the pink Gesu Church which dates back to 1896, as well as Miami Beach’s vibrant Architectural District – home to around 800 pastel-painted Art Deco buildings.

Cheap ways to get around Miami

Car rental is pretty affordable in Miami, though if you want to get around without spending more than a few dollars then there’s plenty of other options. The public transport in Miami includes the Metromover – a free-to-ride elevated metro network that covers much of the downtown district. There’s also the Metrorail, which provides links throughout the city, as well as slightly further afield. One of the cheapest ways to get about is by bus. Miami’s main bus routes operate 24/7, and include the Route S service, which links downtown Miami to neighboring Miami Beach.
