Salvador does have a small metro railway in operation, but it only has 8 stops, so if you’re planning on using public transit, the best choice is the extensive network of bus routes that run throughout the city. In Salvador, you enter the buses from the back door, where you pay the fare, and alight from the front. Taxis are widely available in the city. Some have meters, which may or may not be used, so it’s a good idea to agree on a fare at the start of your journey.
