Most popular areas in Las Vegas for 4-star hotels

To many people, Las Vegas is synonymous with the Strip, and with good reason. This really is where much of the action is, and it also happens to boast the biggest concentration of 4-star hotels. There is accommodation to suit every taste, whether you’re after old-fashioned regal splendor or guestrooms with contemporary decor. Don’t worry if you don’t want to stay on the Strip itself – check out some of the 4-star options which lie west of the Strip or in the downtown area instead.

Top 4-star hotels in Las Vegas

TI – Treasure Island Hotel and Casino’s deluxe guestrooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows – perfect for taking in the glittering Vegas views. The complex is also home to a number of glamorous live shows. One of the largest hotels in the world, the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino also offers impeccably designed guestrooms with views of the Strip, along with a whiskey bar in dark-wooded surroundings, and nightclubs overseen by superstar DJs. Monte Carlo Resort and Casino offers suites with their own private spa facilities, as well as nightspots including a cognac lounge and a lively sports bar.

Where to find the best restaurants in Las Vegas

You could easily spend weeks eating on the Strip and never tire of the options on offer. Fine dining is here in abundance, whether you’re in the mood for jewel-like sushi or thick, succulent steaks. Easy-going bistros and buffets are also on offer at these casino-hotels – ideal for a casual feast. Downtown Las Vegas is also well worth exploring, with its old fashioned Italian joints and hip new eateries offering an alternative to the grander spots on the Strip.

The most popular things to do in Las Vegas

How’s this for an offer you can’t refuse: an attraction that brings to life a bygone era when Vegas really was Sin City. That’s the Mob Museum, which tells the stories of the gangsters who first made Las Vegas a hotbed of gambling and hedonism. Meanwhile, the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art offers a serene counterpoint to the razzle dazzle elsewhere. It puts on renowned exhibitions throughout the year, so check the calendar beforehand. Lovers of iconic motors will relish Hollywood Cars Museum, whose exhibits include the death car from Bonnie and Clyde, Herbie the Love Bug, the supercars from the Fast and the Furious franchise, and even a Back to the Future DeLorean. Then there’s Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition, where you can see genuine items from the doomed liner, as well as a lavish recreation of the Grand Staircase.

Best ways to get around Las Vegas

Perhaps the single most useful part of public transport in Las Vegas is the Deuce. These double-decker buses work their way up and down the Strip 24 hours a day, stopping off at every landmark and attraction. They may be on the slow side, but they’ll get you where you want to be. There’s also the Las Vegas Monorail, which is a speedier service to a good number of casino-hotels along the Strip. They run every 4 to 8 minutes, and provide air-conditioned bliss on hot Vegas days.
