Enjoy Las Vegas on a Budget
Cheap areas to stay in Las VegasIt’s probably fair to say Las Vegas isn’t exactly renowned for being a cheap place for a vacation. Yet there are plenty of bargains to be found, with a bit of lateral thinking. Literal lateral thinking, in fact, because a good number of cheap hotels can be found running parallel to the Strip, over on Paradise Road. Cost-effective accommodation is also dotted along Boulder Highway, which isn’t too far from the lights and excitement of the big casino-hotels. Downtown Las Vegas also has a fair few budget-friendly hotels on offer.
Cheap hotels in Las VegasSuper 8 Las Vegas Strip Area at Ellis Island Casino is proof you don’t need to stray far from the Strip to get good, cheap accommodation. A stone’s throw from the big attractions, it helps you save the pennies by offering free WiFi and a free airport shuttle service, too. Howard Johnson on East Tropicana, Las Vegas Near The Strip also provides free WiFi, along with simple, comfortable guestrooms and a heated outdoor pool. Days Inn Las Vegas At Wild Wild West Gambling Hall is an excellent all-rounder, with pool, whirlpool, and on-site casino.
Where to find cheap food in Las VegasYou could easily blow your whole holiday budget eating on the Strip, but that’s not the whole story. Amid the fine dining opulence, this stretch of boulevard also has no-nonsense ramen joints, pizza parlors, and classic diners serving up burgers which won’t cost the earth. Of course, you’re likely to find more cheap restaurants away from the tourist-filled Strip. Downtown Las Vegas has old time eateries which have been serving up hearty Italian and American classics for generations. Cheap, all-you-can-eat buffets can also be found in hotels west of the Strip.
Cheap things to do in Las VegasWant an exhilarating night out without spending a dime? Head for the Fremont Street Experience. It’s a flamboyant center of entertainment, with its vast overhead canopy showing psychedelic light shows, as well as a never-ending roster of free concerts from legendary names in showbiz. Be sure to visit Circus Circus, the resort complex which lives up to its name with circus performances from jugglers, trapeze artists, hand balancers and more, all completely for free. It also happens to be the world’s largest permanent circus. Meanwhile, the Fountains of Bellagio will be probably be known to you from films and TV shows, but there’s nothing like seeing them in person. Set within a vast, shimmering lake, these dancing fountains wow crowds every night. Finally, you can explore the Martian-like terrain of Red Rock Canyon for only a small admission fee.
Cheap ways to get around Las VegasWant to explore the Strip for a very budget-friendly fee? The Deuce is the way to go. Jump on a double-decker bus and you’ll be taken to every single attraction worth seeing. You may also have heard of the Las Vegas Monorail – which you have to pay to ride – but did you know there’s a free alternative? Over on the west side of the Strip, there are a number of alternative tramways which connect different casino-hotels, all at no cost to you.
